But everything else is going away.Cort T Series T35 5 String Electric Bass Guitar. I was going to buy a warmoth neck, but through some research, emails, and responses here it seems like it may not be that easy, and I was pushed towards trying to use the original neck if possible. I plan on replacing everything, all hardware and electronics. This is what of those "Im not concerned about the budget, or dumping hundreds of dollars into a cheap guitar, I just wanna do it" kind of things. This isnt the most high end guitar by any means, but I plan on going all out on this guitar and making it awesome.

Wide open on suggestions on how to handle this. The neck is one solid piece, nothing different on the fretboard. The alternative to keeping the logo, is to do some sort of design with my grandparents initials in memory of them. It appears to be a sticker that they laquered over. As gawdy and ugly as the logo is, these are no longer in production. The other half of me kind of wants to keep it stock.

Part of me wants to fully sand it, and match whatever I do to the body. The neck/headstock are my biggest dillemas right now. Ideally if the grain is somewhat interesting, Id like to do a die/stain with a natural wood finish. Depending on how the wood grain looks on the top will determine where I will go from there. Tomorrow night I will be fully sanding the existing finish. This was my first ever guitar that my grandpa bought me when I was 11 or 12, so its a sentimental project, and I want to do it right.Īs of right now, I bought some paint stripper, 220 grit sandpaper, and several grades of steel wool. Luckily it appears I didnt do too much damage and overall its in fairly decent shape. With that said, Im so excited right now! Got back to my hometown tonight, and spent 2 hours digging through closets and the garage and finally found this old guitar with its bag of parts.Īs you can see at one point many years ago I was going to repaint this, and gave up. This a long shot and this is probably already over, but Ive seen quite a few of your videos, and figured it wouldn't hurt copying this post here to see if you had any advice for me!ĭisclaimer: I have zero experience doing anything other than basic maintenance and set ups on my guitars. What's the rule of thumb for having the nut slots and/or tuning peg holes widened for high gauge strings? Are there issues with having your strings too wide to fully fit into the nut slot? And more importantly, would it cause problems if the slot is significantly wider than the string if I moved down in gauge at some point in the future, say if I had it widened for a 62 top string and moved down to a 60 or even a 56?

The Schecter site says graphtech, but the images have the EB, and other retailers list the EB compensated in the specs. It also seems to have an Ernie Ball compensated nut. It's a 7ply neck-through, with heel access truss rod and Fishman Fluence pickups for $1198.

Hey Phil, love your channel! I have a couple questions:ġ I had a whole debacle where I sent back a Schecter (my first ever upgrade and nice guitar after 12 years of playing) because it seems I was sent a display model that I paid full price for.
